We are making kids quilts for the Penrickton Center for Blind Children. They specialize in working with children who are visually impaired, ages one through twelve with at least one additional handicap such as deafness, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, seizures, etc.
Bring your favorite 3-yard quilt pattern and fabric (roughly 45x63 finished). You may even want to cut the pieces at home so you can devote the time to sewing the top and quilting it during our Charity Sew Day (but don't worry if you can't - we need all the quilters we can get!!)
We will supply batting. We will also have a demo on an easy way to quilt it on your domestic machine. A couple years ago we had a quilting demo and all the attendees felt they learned something new!
We will create 26 quilts - 19 boys and 7 girls, ages 13 and younger. Please consider using fabrics that are gender neutral or would appeal to boys (each child has a different degree of blindness.) When you register, you can indicate the type of quilt you'd like to make.
