Heart to Heart Hospice has requested fabric covers for Foley bags for their inpatient folks, many of whom are at the end of life. Foley bags collect urine for bedridden patients, and a fabric bag cover will discretely make the patient's environment more welcoming to their loved ones. Carol will also be demonstrating the "Quilted Hug" which we donate to Heart to Heart Hospice and St. Anne's Mead nursing home.

What to bring:

__Sewing machine with walking foot and regular sewing supplies (snips, scissors)

__Thread

__Basting pins

The guild will provide irons and ironing boards.

Fabric and pattern will be provided for the Foley bag covers.

If you would like to make a Quilted Hug bring:

  • Approx. 60 inch square quilt top. It can be any pattern (ex: 2.5 inch strips sewn together,  patchwork of any pattern, whole piece of cloth), just ensure it's 60 inches square.
  • 60 inch square piece of fleece or flannel batting.  No batting is needed when using fleece, but batting should be included when using flannel for extra cosiness!

We probably won't finish a Quilted Hug in one day but you will be able to complete it at home and bring to Carol Koenig or Cathy Labrie or to our April meeting.

Bring your lunch and/or a snack to share.

Thank you for your continued, generous support of GLHQ community outreach sewing projects!
